WildAid Sponsors Nature Awareness Event for Young People
In October 2010, February 2011 and July 2011 WildAid provided a bursaries to Wild Woods ‘n’ Willow, an organisation who aims to inspire wonder and respect for nature in young people through practical, sensory and playful activities outdoors. The following is a short report on one of the events, however, for more information on what they do please visit:

“We would like to thank WildAid for kindly donating the 8 bursary places that made it possible for many of the children to participate on the Wild Woods n' Willow Halloween special.
The event went very well with places fully booked and the weather was kind being mild and dry.
The children had the rare opportunity to see and hear bats with our special frequency converter on a night walk. As we went deeper into the woods we tracked a pair of juvenile tawny owls squabbling over territory. We cooked pumpkin and honey bread over the fire, made miniature broom sticks using traditional techniques and materials grown at Epona (our Wild Woods n' Willow site) To finish we all enjoyed stalking through the under growth in the dark. Much fun was had by all.”
BioBlitz
In line with the 2010 International Year of Biodiversity, WildAid also gets involved with BioBlitz, click image to the right to find out more. These are events that are coming together in a National Partnership, the aim being to uncover what wildlife you have in your area and promote ways to get involved with your local community, environment and your wildlife species. WildAid will be facilitating these events at schools and community areas so let us know if you are interested! August 16th found WildAid at Canonteign Falls, Devon!
We were generously invited to run a wildlife event at this great venue. Our naturalist patron Nick Baker was there leading nature trails, bug hunts and even a little pond dipping! We will also ran craft activities, games and provided information on our charity and the work we do. Home to England’s highest waterfall, descending a staggering 220 ft, Canonteign Falls is a breath taking Devon attraction, and a wonderful day out for all the family.
The day was a huge success and we continued to gather handprints for our campaign to save Britains environmental laws!

Biodiversity Surveys at Broadclyst Community Farm!
WildAid are involved in an on going project to provide this great community venture with baseline surveys of their land. On the farm there are several habitats that are listed with Natural England as Priority for Conservation such as lowland grassland, orchards and hedgerows.
On the 15th September we teamed up with Open Air Laboratories (OPAL) to conduct grassland and hedgerow surveys with the help of the farms own volunteers and 15 A level Biology students from the community college adjoining the site. It was a great day and the data will be part of national surveys as well as for Broadclyst Community Farm's own land management!
October was quite a month for WildAid and so the following is a brief outline of events.
