Dawn Wakefield
Dawn is the Project Manager for WildAid and it is her voice you are most likely to hear on the phone. With a background in Ecology and Rural Policy, she has considerable experience of the environmental, social and economic issues that affect Wildlife Conservation. She has worked extensively with youth groups exploring the similarities of the issues faced by young people in rural and urban areas. Dawn also brings knowledge and understanding of wildlife habitats and horticulture to WildAid projects and is also currently training as a Forest Schools Practioner!
Nick Baker
www.nickbaker.tv/
Nick has worked in television now for 16 years presenting Natural history programmes for all the different generations, from the long running CBBC programme ‘The really Wild Show’ to ‘Nick Bakers Weird Creatures’ for Channel 5 and Animal Planet. He has also penned several books and works alongside many organizations that support wildlife. But first and foremost he is a ‘Professional Amateur Naturalist’ (his words!!) Wild Aid has been lucky enough to have Nick as our patron for many years and is delighted that he is keen to continue that support as we re-launch into our new era. Nick will be taking a very active role within the charity, so keep an eye out on our events page to find out more…..
Ceri Baker
Ceri is WildAid's Project Officer and joined the team due to her passion to reconnect people with their environment. She has a background in working with excluded school children and young people with emotional problems, developing programmes and running courses to help them gain a better understanding of themselves and to make positive changes in their lives. It was very clear to her that time outdoors in nature was something not many of them did but that when they did, much of their negative behaviours disappeared. Ceri also ran a successful landscape design and construction business for 10 years, creating beautiful wildlife friendly gardens from natural, sustainable materials.
Charlie Pass
Charlie works in Lancashire as a Countryside Officer and has been a dedicated supporter of Wildaid since its inception. Charlie has a great passion for the natural environment and has been able to turn a childhood ambition to work in the environmental field into a reality. Leading an active lifestyle he participtes in wildlife surveys including bats, fungi and birds, but his greatest passion is delivering hands on environmental education to all generations. There are no boundaries for encouraging the natural environment and wildlife into our lives. Charlie volunteers a tremendous amount of time to spread the work that Wildaid does in the north of England!
Claire-Shauna Minett
Claire is the current Chairperson for WildAid. She has considerable experience in organising local community events and brings a huge amount of enthusiasm to our charity! Professionally, Claire, has been a nanny for many years and has extensive knowledge and experience of working with children in both school and outdoor settings which makes her invaluable part of the team. Claire gives up her time voluntarily not only to Chair meetings but also to help out on WildAid events and workshops.
Jonathan Hodges
Jon founded WildAid 20 years ago and has vast experience of animal welfare and rehabilitation. At the tender age of 19 Jon held his own zoo licence with which he established an amazing Wildlife Park and promoted welfare education. The projects that he has been involved in have made a tremendous difference to British wildlife welfare.
Connor Fitz-Gerald
Connor has always loved the great outdoors and has a personal understanding of the negative effects of the lack of connection to the natural world of the ‘Playstation generation’. He jumped at the opportunity to sit on our board of trustees and has proved to be a real asset to the team as the voice of the youth if you like. He has a background in working with his peers and younger children as an NCO of a local Air Cadets Squadron and has recently worked with a Social Enterprise Project called Embercombe, which actively promotes ‘sustainable living’.
Alex Wakefield
Alex is our youngest trustee and joined WildAid recently because of his passion for encouraging people to feel a part of the natural environment and to consume more sustainably. It is very important to WildAid that young people are heard and the experience that Alex has in connecting people to the wild through interaction with nature, both physically and through the media of music, is a great asset to WildAid. Alex grew up on Dartmoor but now lives in London and is proactive in WildAid activities and promotion in town which helps our charity to reach urban communities.
